On Saturday 28th of January 2023, Cyprus Chefs Association organized its Annual General and Electoral Meeting which took place at the Mediterranean Hotel in Limassol. The event was held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. The President of the World Chefs Association Mr. Thomas A. Gugler, the Member of Parliament of AKEL Mr. Andreas Kafkalias, Representative of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, members as well as several sponsors and friends of the Association were also present.
The assembly commenced with the members renewal for 2023 and followed by the greeting speech of the outgoing President of the Cyprus Chefs Association Mr. Giorgos Damianou.
“As you might have realized, I am filled with feelings of excitement, sadness, joy and of course pride. Great challenges and opportunities are rising for our country and I reassure you that from my new position as a Regional Director of Southern Europe, I will do my best for the gastronomy of our island’’.
As he mentioned the Association has set the standards very high and its main goal is to continue the successful work to evolve the gastronomy sector in Cyprus. The establishment of a Culinary Academy as well as the proposal regarding a law for the ratification of our profession, are a few of the future targets set.
Mr. Damianou thanked everyone who contributed to the work done all these years and wished to the New President of Cyprus Chefs Association Mr. Petros Gabriel best of luck and strength for the challenges that lay ahead.

Later, the National Culinary Teams of Cyprus were awarded as well as a great deal of individuals who generously contributed to our goals.
The Title of Honorary member was given to the President of the World Chefs Association Mr. Thomas A. Gugler. The title given was based on the article 5/D of our statute as well as the decision that has been majorly voted by the board of directors meeting on the 17th of January.
The Honorary President Mr. Marios Hatziiosif, Mr. Giorgos Damianou and the Board of Directors announced the proclamation of the New President Mr. Petros Gabriel who in turn, thanked all the Honorary guests, sponsors, members and friends and promised to keep up the hard work.
A Cypriot breakfast – brunch, took place right after, were all attendees had the opportunity to enjoy.
At the end of the event the financial report of the Association was analysed by the Treasurer Mr. Panagiotis Charalambous.
Finally, the New Board of Directors was presented.
