Cyprus Ranked 4th in the World at Global Young Chef of the Year – Strong Presence of the Cyprus Chefs Association at the Worldchefs Congress
From 15 to 19 May 2026, the Worldchefs Congress took place in Wales, bringing together culinary professionals and chefs’ associations from around the world.
The Cyprus Chefs Association was represented by President Petros Gavriel and Financial Director Panayiotis Charalambous, promoting Cypriot gastronomy internationally and strengthening relationships and cooperation with other associations.
During the event, the final of the Global Chefs Challenge*was also held. Cyprus participated in the “Global Young Chef of the Year” category with Konstantina Papaioannou, following her successful qualification at last year’s semifinal in Rimini, Italy.
Cyprus achieved an important success, as Konstantina Papaioannou won 4th place in the world, showing the high level of young professionals in Cypriot gastronomy and bringing another international achievement to Cyprus.
The preparation and participation were guided by the Director of the Cyprus National Junior Culinary Team, Dimitris Giakos. The effort reflected dedication, professionalism, discipline, and hard work.
