On Saturday, 7 February 2026, the Cyprus Chefs Association held its Annual General and Electoral Assembly at the Royal Apollonia Hotel – Louis Hotels Group in Limassol. The Assembly was held under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.

Distinguished guests, sponsors, friends, and members of the Association attended the Assembly, reaffirming their long-standing support and recognition of the Cyprus Chefs Association’s work.

The proceedings began with the traditional cutting of the New Year’s cake by the President of the Association, Mr. Petros Gavriil. This was followed by the presentation of the financial report by the Treasurer, Mr. Panagiotis Charalambous, as well as an open discussion on matters concerning the activities and future direction of the Association.

The second part of the Assembly took place in the presence of all official guests and opened with the address of the President of the Cyprus Chefs Association. Mr. Gavriil presented a review of the Association’s 31 years of contribution and action, referred to the significant activities of 2025, and emphasized that the Association will continue to set high standards for gastronomy. At the same time, he outlined the Association’s goals for 2026, highlighting that the Cyprus Chefs Association will continue to be dynamically active in the food service and tourism sectors, contributing substantially to the enhancement of the country’s tourism product.

The President warmly thanked all members, sponsors, the Board of Directors, the National Culinary Teams of Cyprus, as well as everyone who consistently supports the work of the Association.

A greeting was also delivered by the Honourable Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Kostas Koumis, who praised the multifaceted work of the Association and emphasized that the Deputy Ministry of Tourism remains a steadfast supporter of the Cyprus Chefs Association.

A highlight of the event was the first official presentation of the members of the Cyprus National Culinary Team and the Cyprus Junior National Culinary Team, which represent the forefront of Cypriot gastronomic excellence abroad, proudly promoting the country’s tradition, quality, and talent at international competitions.

This was followed by honorary awards, during which individuals who had recently retired were honoured and presented with commemorative plaques as a token of appreciation and gratitude for their significant contribution to both the Association and the culinary profession.

In addition, two members who are stepping down from the Board of Directors were honoured for their long-standing and meaningful contribution to the Association’s work: the General Secretary of the past ten years, Mr. Michalis Michaelides, and the District Representative of Paphos, Mr. Charis Philippou.

Subsequently, the President of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Nikolas Konstantinou, took the floor and announced and ratified the composition of the new Board of Directors of the Association for the next two-year term, as there were no opposing candidates.

It is worth noting that the Board of Directors was strengthened with two new members: Mr. Tryfon Panayiotou as General Secretary, and Mr. Panayiotis Panayiotou as Paphos Representative.
